In-Form Juniors Are Lancashire Hotshots

Written by Newcastle Utd

United's under-18s are in action at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday following their 4-3 win over Aston Villa last weekend

Newcastle United's under-18s will look to continue their recent good form when they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (kick-off 12.30pm).

Dave Watson's side have won two and drawn one of their four Barclays Under-18 Premier League games so far in 2013, as well as winning two out of three games at the Torneo di Viareggio, and came out on top against Aston Villa last weekend.

Adam Armstrong and debutant Andy Hall helped themselves to two goals each in the 4-3 win at Little Benton and both are involved for the trip to Lancashire.

Defender Alex Kitchen is back after suffering a hamstring strain in Italy last month while in-form Jonathyn Quinn features after starting for the under-21s in their last match against Manchester City. However, goalkeeper Aidan Grant has joined Aston Villa.

Some of the squad - including England under-16 defender Kyle Cameron and Turkish youngster Daniel Barlaser - had a taste of the big time on Thursday night as they were ball boys for the Europa League round of 16 win over Anzhi Makhachkala.

And Watson will hope they can match the quality and desire shown by the first-team against Rovers on Saturday.

The squad is: Alex Kitchen, Lee Desmond, Freddie Woodman, Jonathyn Quinn, Greg Olley, Ryan McKinnon, James Morgan, Macaulay Gillesphey, Adam Armstrong, Sam Busby, Callum Roberts, Adam Laidler, Ben Drennan, Andy Hall, Daniel Barlaser, Kyle Cameron.
