Teenage striker JJ Hooper has joined non-league neighbours Darlington on a work experience loan.
The 19-year-old from Greenwich has linked up with Martin Gray's table-topping Quakers to further his footballing education, having impressed for Newcastle's under-18 side last season as they won the Premier Academy League Group D title.
Hooper is based at the first-team training centre this season and scored his first goal for the under-21s in September's 5-1 win at Stoke.
But with Darlington - who were demoted to the Northern League by the Football Association after falling into administration last term - flying high in the Northern League, the Magpies will allow him to develop there while he can also play for Newcastle under the terms of his move.
He could make his debut for the County Durham outfit, who currently play their home games in Bishop Auckland, against Spennymoor in the Northern League Cup on Wednesday evening.
Hooper is the second player to leave Newcastle on loan during the campaign, following Paul Dummett who joined Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren in August.
