Heading To Reading

Written by Newcastle Utd

Dave Watson has named his squad for Saturday's Barclays Under-18 Premier League fixture away to Reading

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Just like the first team, Newcastle's under-18s have had a week off but Dave Watson's side return to action at Reading on Saturday.

United set off on Friday afternoon for the 11am kick-off at Hogwood Park, and they will be hoping to improve upon a start to the campaign which has seen them win just once in four outings.

Watson is able to call upon in-form Jonathyn Quinn, whose hat-trick for the under-21s against West Ham last week took him to five goals at all levels, while England under-17 internationals Alex Gilliead, Ben Drennan and Freddie Woodman and England under-16 defender Kyle Cameron are also involved.

Drennan made his second-string bow against the Hammers along with Liam Smith and Callum Roberts, who are both included against the young Royals.

The squad is: Rolando Aarons, Kyle Cameron, Jamie Cobain, Ben Drennan, Liam Gibson, Alex Gilliead, Tom Heardman, Adam Laidler, Joe Kerridge, Ryan McKinnon, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Callum Roberts, Liam Smith, Jordan Storey, Freddie Woodman.
