Written by Newcastle Utd

Tony Harrington will referee Newcastle's Sky Bet Championship fixture at Ashton Gate

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Tony Harrington will take charge of Newcastle United's Sky Bet Championship fixture at Bristol City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

It will be the first time he's refereed a senior match involving Newcastle United but his fourth outing of the season, having refereed two Championship games and one EFL Cup match so far in 2016/17. He's shown 17 yellow cards and no reds.

Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance at the age of 14. He was appointed to the Football League referee list in 2012/13 and has now refereed more than 100 league matches.

On Saturday at Ashton Gate, Harrington will be assisted by Mark Jones and Darren Blunden, with John Law the game's fourth official.
