Long-serving keeper Steve Harper has joined Hull City after his Newcastle United contract expired this month

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Steve Harper has joined Barclays Premier League new boys Hull City after ending his 20-year association with Newcastle United earlier this month.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper's contract expired this summer and he has signed a one-year deal with the Tigers.

Joining the Magpies in 1993 from Seaham Red Star, Harper made 199 appearances for the Club and served under several managers including Kevin Keegan, Sir Bobby Robson, Chris Hughton and Alan Pardew.

He played in the 1999 FA Cup final and was the first choice between the posts when United won the Coca-Cola Championship in 2009/10. Wearing the captain's armband, he made an emotional farewell appearance in the last game of 2012/13 against Arsenal.

All at Newcastle United wish Harper well at the KC Stadium.
