Gumienny To Referee Kharkiv Tie

Written by Newcastle Utd

Serge Gumienny will referee Newcastle United's Europa League Round of 32 second leg fixture away at Metalist Kharkiv

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Serge Gumienny will referee Newcastle United's Europa League Round of 32 second leg fixture away at Metalist Kharkiv on Thursday night (6pm kick-off).

The Belgian takes charge at the Metalist Stadium as the Magpies look to progress to the next stage of the competition following a first leg goalless draw on home soil last Thursday.

Gumienny, aged 40, has overseen 27 games this season, handing out 98 yellow cards, eight reds and awarding seven penalties.

On Thursday, Gumienny will be assisted by Walter Vromans and Frank Bleyen, with Luc Wouters and Alexandre Boucaut the additional assistant referees behind each goal.

Kristof Meers will be the game's fourth official.
