Gosling On England Standby

United midfielder Dan Gosling has been placed on standby for England Under 21s ahead of their forthcoming fixtures

Dan Gosling has been placed on England Under 21 standby for their European Championship qualification double-header against Iceland and Belgium.

Under 21 boss Stuart Pearce named a 25-man squad on Wednesday afternoon, and Newcastle midfielder Gosling, aged 21, is one of five players on standby for the two fixtures.

England first take on Iceland at Colchester United's Weston Homes Community Stadium on Thursday, 10th November, before heading to RAEC Mons on 14th November, where they will face Belgium.

Gosling has three Under 21 caps to his name and has made three appearances for Newcastle this season.
