Gosling Escapes First-Team Ban

Written by Newcastle Utd

Dan Gosling's suspension for a Reserve team red card won't rule him out of top flight action for Newcastle, it's been confirmed

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Dan Gosling will not be banned for any first-team fixtures following his Reserve team red card against Sunderland on Thursday night.

The midfielder was dismissed for two bookings in the 3-3 draw - one for a mistimed challenge on Alex Gorrin, the other for a deliberate handball.

He was distraught as referee Paul Curry sent him off, but it has been confirmed that he will not miss any senior action.

Gosling, who has played in Newcastle's last two second-string games, will instead serve a one-match Barclays Premier Reserve League ban.

Earlier in the match, Gosling had scored his fourth Reserve goal of the campaign.
