Good's World Cup Dream Still Alive

Curtis Good is back on Tyneside after suffering an injury on his debut for Australia, but still hopes he can earn a call-up for the World Cup

Curtis Good's World Cup dream is still alive despite him being ruled out for between four and six weeks with an abductor injury sustained on his debut for Australia.
The 20-year-old defender's impressive performances on loan at Dundee United earned him a call-up for the Socceroos' friendly with Ecuador last week.
But in a typically cool display at Millwall's New Den, his night was ended prematurely and Australia ended up losing 4-3.
Good is currently back on Tyneside for treatment, but will return north of the border once he's recovered.
"It was my first call-up so it was pretty exciting when the call came," he told nufc.co.uk.
"I had to come off with an innocuous sort of injury and we ended up losing 4-3, so there were highs and lows.
"It was unfortunate circumstances (with the result and the injury) but overall it was exciting."
Australia coach Ange Postecoglou was clearly impressed with Good, hailing his display as "fantastic".
And the Magpies man said: "I hope he was, put it that way, but it's just good to get your first cap out of the way because I was quite nervous before the game.
"At least I'm in the mix now but obviously I need to get this sorted if I want to have a chance of going to the World Cup.
"So fingers crossed it's not too long and hopefully I'll get another call-up."
Good - who played in last year's Capital One Cup final during a loan spell at Bradford - joined Dundee United in January and has yet to be on the losing side at Tannadice.
He smiled: "I've loved it, to be honest. I went up there and we got a good run of results, which was good.
"Confidence was high so it was a good environment to be at, so I've thoroughly enjoyed it and hopefully I'll be back up there soon.
"It's a very decent standard - I was surprised actually because I'd never really watched it except Celtic and Rangers. But I'm very impressed with the standard and there are some really good young players there."
He even powered home a header in last month's 3-2 win over Kilmarnock.
"I'd scored in the A-League when I was younger but it was my first goal over here," he said. "It was a great feeling and it was good to get on the scoresheet."
