Fulham v Newcastle: Key Moments

Written by Newcastle Utd

The key moments from Craven Cottage, where former Darlington goalkeeper David Stockdale frustrated Papiss Cisse and Newcastle

Fulham 1 (Dejagah 68)
Newcastle United 0

SECOND HALF UPDATES (PRESS F5 TO REFRESH)

WHISTLE-MDC-icons90+3mins: And that's it - Newcastle's dreadful recent run at Craven Cottage continues. Substitute Dejagah's goal was the difference but Fulham will be grateful to goalkeeper Stockdale for two vital saves from Cisse. Click here for the match report.

90+2mins: Krul comes up for a corner and the ball falls to him; his shot strikes the hand of John Heitinga but for the second time today, Webb waves away Newcastle's appeals for a penalty.

90+1mins: Woodrow, who has played well today, sees a shot deflected behind off Fabricio Coloccini which will allow the Cottagers to waste some time by the corner flag.

90mins: There will be three minutes of stoppage time.

89mins: Armstrong picks the ball up from Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa 40 yards from goal, turns and advances but sends his 25 yard shot over the bar. It was positive play from the debutant, though.

SUB-MDC-icons87mins: Goalscorer Dejagah, who has only been on the pitch for less than half an hour, is replaced by big defender Dan Burn, who hails from Blyth.

SUB-MDC-icons86mins: A big moment for young Adam Armstrong; the 17-year-old is on for his Newcastle debut, in place of Luuk de Jong. He's the Club's top scorer at all levels this season - another today would be handy.

SUB-MDC-icons82mins: Sylvain Marveaux is on for Anita while Sascha Riether replaces Holtby. United will look to Marveaux to create something while Fulham will hope Riether can help them to keep it tight in this last few minutes.

77mins: Dummett dinks in a cross from the left which bounces and seems to hit Fernando Amorebieta on the arm, but despite appeals from the travelling fans behind that goal referee Webb is unmoved.

SUB-MDC-icons71mins: Cisse's afternoon is now over - Shola Ameobi is on in his place.

GOAL-MDC-icons68mins - FULHAM GOAL (1-0): Now that Stockdale save looks even more important because Fulham have taken the leads seconds later. Substitute Dejagah hits a fizzing low strike from 22 yards and it whistles underneath the dive of Krul to send the home fans wild.

67mins: Cisse races onto an awful backpass to go one-on-one with Stockdale, but his shot is well parried by the goalkeeper. That was a big chance for the Senegalese striker.

SUB-MDC-icons61mins: Here comes the first substitution of the day - Kasami is replaced by Ashkan Dejagah.

57mins: Fulham look hungry now and Woodrow in particular seems up for the fight. His fizzing shot is pushed away by Krul as far as Kacaniklic, whose follow up is blocked by Williamson.

54mins: For the second time in this half, Fulham have a goal ruled out and this one looked far more controversial. Kasami, who had just been denied by a brave block from Dummett, hits one from the edge of the area and his shoot crashes back off the underside of the bar. It looked in but it mustn't have been - that's what goal-line technology is for, after all. Young Woodrow is following in though and takes a touch before rifling home - but Darren Cann's flag is up again.

50mins: De Jong latches onto Gouffran's pass and drives into the box but he drags his shot just the wrong side of Stockdale's near post as he goes in search of his first goal for the Magpies.

47mins: Fulham have the ball in the net after Kamami stabs home from Holtby's free kick, which was headed back across goal, but the flag had already been raised.

WHISTLE-MDC-icons46mins: Anita and Sissoko get the second half underway for United, with no changes for either side.

FIRST HALF UPDATES

WHISTLE-MDC-icons45+1mins: Howard Webb blows for half time and it's not been a great game so far. The Fulham players are applauded off by their supporters near the tunnel as they make their way off but in truth neither side has served up much to shout about. Click here for a half time report.

45mins: There will be one minute of added time. Kieran Richardson, who has spent most of the game on the back foot, gets in a cross from the left which Williamson heads away as far as Holtby, whose effort goes wide despite the best efforts of Kasami to divert it on target.

44mins: Kvist is caught out again as he takes too long to clear his lines after cutting out a cross from Sissoko, and Anita steals in but his seemingly goalbound shot is blocked.

41mins: Gouffran wriggles past Kvist to drive over a decent cross from the right, where Newcastle are getting most of their joy. De Jong rises to meet it but can't guide it on target, although it was a difficult opportunity for the Dutchman as it came to him so quickly.

35mins: What a save from Stockdale to keep it at 0-0. Moussa Sissoko's wicked low cross from the right was missed by De Jong but met perfectly by Papiss Cisse 12 yards from goal and his shot looked destined for the bottom corner. Step forward Stockdale, who flew to his right to divert the ball around the post. He was in the England squad a couple of years ago; saves like that show why.

32mins: Pajtim Kasami charges down Anita's pass in midfield which allows Fulham to break. They work the ball to Holtby on the right-hand angle of the box and his effort is pushed behind by Krul. That was a decent save from the Dutchman, whose stunning double-stop at Hull two weeks ago proved so important in what followed at the KC Stadium. Will the same happen again?

28mins: Coach Carver comes to the edge of his technical area and a chant of "Carver, give us a wave" goes up from the away end. He obliges before sitting back down.

27mins: The ball sits up nicely for Alexander Kacaniklic to hit from 30 yards, and his half-volley swerves wide. It nearly took Krul by surprise but in the end he was able to watch it all the way.

22mins: After a needless foul from William Kvist on Luuk de Jong, Dummett steps up to take charge of the dead ball and his shot from 25 yards dips narrowly off target.

19mins: Cauley Woodrow, Fulham's 19-year-old forward, refuses to give up on what looked to be a lost cause as Mike Williamson attempts to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick. The teenager slides in and wins possession, but Krul is alert to grab the loose ball.

10mins: Another delivery from Holtby causes problems for United; this time the German midfielder's right-wing corner flashes across goal with Krul appearing to scramble the ball behind, but a goal kick is given.

7mins: At the other end, Fulham win a free kick of their own and Lewis Holtby sends in a dangerous delivery which Brede Hangeland, the Fulham skipper, comes within a whisker of nudging past Tim Krul but the big defender just fails to get a touch.

5mins: Vurnon Anita is fouled 30 yards from goal and Paul Dummett floats the resulting free kick towards Yoan Gouffran, who heads back across goal but sees former Darlington goalkeeper David Stockdale collect the ball underneath his crossbar.

WHISTLE-MDC-icons1min: The sun is shining on Craven Cottage but Fulham's mood will be gloomy if they slip to another defeat today - they're currently bottom of the league and in serious danger of slipping out of the Barclays Premier League. Newcastle, meanwhile, have won their last two. With Alan Pardew watching the match in a West London hotel, John Carver is on the touchline as the home side take kick-off. United are wearing their denim change kit with the Cottagers in white shirts and socks with black shorts.
