Chris Foy will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League fixture away at Southampton on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the first time this season the Lancashire-based official has taken charge of a Magpies match, although he was the man in the middle of four United games last term.
So far, Foy has overseen two games in the 2014/15 campaign - both in the Premier League - issuing six yellow cards, two red cards and awarding one penalty.
Fifty-one-year-old Foy started officiating in 1983 and worked his way up the ranks before becoming a Premier League referee in 2001 - with his first appointment coming in December of that year as Bolton and Charlton played out a goalless draw.
He was in charge of the 2009 League Cup final and the following year's FA Cup final - his highest honours to date.
On Saturday at St. Mary's Stadium, Foy will be assisted by Harry Lennard and Matthew Wilkes, with Keith Hill the game's fourth official.
