Newcastle United Foundation is offering a free course to help unemployed young men get back into work

Are you male and aged 18 to 24? Have you been out of work for 12 months or more?

If so, Newcastle United Foundation is offering a free course to help you back into work.

The Foundation is running a 15-week Talent Match course at St. James' Park to help unemployed young men become fit for work.

Participants will take part in a series of workshops designed to boost skills for work, increase self-esteem, and physical and mental health.

Each course will include:

// Employability and work skills sessions
// CV and job search skills
// Physical and mental health sessions
// Health and nutrition advice
// Football coaching and fixtures
// Three qualifications
// Two work placements
// A residential activity planned by course participants
// ICT, literacy and numeracy support where needed

The first course starts on Tuesday, 30th September, and will take place on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until December.

Each day will start at 10am at St. James' Park and finish at 3pm. Taking part in the course will not affect benefit entitlements, while sporting sessions will be delivered at Walker Activity Dome and transport is provided.

The Foundation has a strong track record of delivering employability courses with 90 per cent of previous course participants going into employment, education or training.

Talent Match is a Big Lottery funded scheme to tackle youth unemployment in the North-East. The Wise Group, the portfolio holder for Talent Match North East, has signed up the Foundation to join a consortia of organisations tackling growing levels of youth unemployment in the region with £8.7million of Lottery funding.

To register your interest in the course ring Senior Project Officer Ruth Barrass on 0191 201 8451, text 07741 28441 or email [email protected]. The Foundation also accepts referrals from other organisations including youth groups, training providers or statutory bodies.
