Flying Start For Magpies Tour

Written by Newcastle Utd

Training starts today for United squad in Kansas after they jetted out to the States on Sunday morning

United's players and staff jetted out to America yesterday for the start of their ten-day pre-season trip.

The party met up on Tyneside early yesterday morning before leaving Newcastle International Airport at 8am and flying to London.

They then boarded a Chicago-bound flight from Heathrow shortly before midday.

After the long-haul trek across the Atlantic, which takes around nine hours, the Newcastle squad spent a few hours resting at Chicago Airport's Hilton Hotel before catching another flight to Kansas.

Once they'd arrived in the Midwestern State, it was all aboard a coach as the group were transferred to a downtown hotel in Kansas City for a meal and a well-earned rest ahead of the first training session of the trip this morning.

The first match of the tour is against Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, who play their games at Livestrong Sporting Park and are currently in 5th place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference table.
