Curtis Good played his first game since April as Australia warmed up for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with a big win over New Zealand

Newcastle defender Curtis Good made his return from injury as Australia warmed up for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with a 5-0 win over New Zealand.

The 20-year-old had not played since suffering a knee injury in April's Barclays Under-21 Premier League win over Norwich City at Whitley Park, which brought his first season in English football to a premature end.

However, he was still named in Paul Okon's 21-man squad for the competition, which will be held in Turkey between 21st June and 13th July, and he made his comeback against the All Whites in Wollongong.

And the young man from Melbourne played for an hour in their final home friendly match ahead of the tournament. Adam Taggart, who plays his club football for Newcastle Jets, scored a hat-trick while Blackburn's Jamie Maclaren and Fleetwood's Ryan Edwards wrapped up a convincing victory in front of a crowd of 2,223.

The Young Socceroos depart for Turkey on Tuesday for a pre-tournament training camp, where they will play Chile in a friendly in Antalya next week before beginning their World Cup campaign against Colombia in Trabzon on Saturday, 22nd June.

Meanwhile, his Club colleague Gael Bigirimana is part of the England squad which flies out on Wednesday ahead of the tournament.
