Fans Take Flight To Cardiff With Wonga

Written by Newcastle Utd

Forty fans - along with Peter Beardsley and Steve Howey - are being flown to Cardiff by wonga.com

Newcastle United sponsor wonga.com is flying 40 lucky Magpies fans to Cardiff for Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The digital finance company ran a competition on their dedicated Newcastle United fan site, www.wongafootball.com/nufc, in which Club Members could enter to have a chance of winning two seats on the return flight.

Wonga is also providing coach transfers to and from the Cardiff City Stadium, tickets to the game, in-flight entertainment, and Wonga Away Day gift packs.

Former United stars Peter Beardsley and Steve Howey met the competition winners at Newcastle Airport on Saturday morning and will accompany them to the match.

This is the first Wonga Away Day of the season, and is one of a number of initiatives that Wonga is running to improve matchday experiences for Newcastle fans.

A Wonga spokesman said: "We know how much travel can cost, especially for long-distance away matches, so we wanted to make it easier for the fans to support Newcastle away from home.

"Cardiff City is one of the further away trips of the season so seemed the perfect opportunity to help out and give the fans the chance to visit a new stadium."

Lee Marshall, PR and supporter liaison manager at Newcastle United, added: "This is a fantastic initiative by Wonga for the benefit of our fans, particularly at a time when efforts are being made league-wide to ease the challenges faced by away supporters.

"We are privileged to have incredible support home and away each week and we hope Saturday's Wonga Away Day makes it extra special for many of those making the long trip to Cardiff."
