Magpies teenager Mackenzie Heaney played the full 80 minutes as Scotland under-16s drew 2-2 with Wales in the Sky Sports Victory Shield on Thursday night.

The 14-year-old midfielder was making his international debut in Aberystwyth and, playing in the number ten role, twice came close to scoring in the second half.

Heaney, who hails from Walker in Newcastle, qualifies for Scotland through his grandfather.

He will now hope to be included in the Tartan Army squad again for their final match of the tournament later this month: Scotland host England on Friday, November 29th.
