- Seydou Doumbia was born in Abidjan, the economic capital of the Ivory Coast, on 31st December, 1987.

- Starting his career in Africa, the striker played for a number of teams in his homeland before moving to Japan in 2006.

- Following promising spells with Kashiwa Reysol and Tokushima Vortis in the J League, Doumbia attracted the attentions of Swiss club BSC Young Boys.

- The forward's record in the Swiss Super League over the next two seasons was nothing short of phenomenal, scoring 57 goals in just 78 appearances.

- Unsurprisingly, Doumbia was soon on the move again, switching to CSKA Moscow in January 2010.

- He made his debut for the Russian giants in August 2010, in a 2-1 victory over Spartak Moscow, and scored his first goals for the club later that month.

- While at CSKA, Doumbia lifted the Russian Premier League twice, a pair of Russian Cups and two Russian Super Cups. He was also voted Russian Player of the Year in December 2011.

- As well as his sparking league and cup form, Doumbia also proved he could score goals at the highest level, bagging 16 goals in just 23 Champions League outings.

- In January 2015, Doumbia moved to Italian giants AS Roma but, after two goals in 14 appearances, returned to CSKA Moscow on loan last August.

- Doumbia made his senior international debut for Ivory Coast in May 2008 in a friendly against Japan.

- He scored his first international goal against Germany in November 2009 and featured for Ivory Coast at the 2010 World Cup, 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations - the latter of which they triumphed in.
