Everything you need to know about Newcastle United's 12th first team signing of the summer, Christian Atsu…

- Christian Atsu Twasam was born on 10th January 1992 in Ada Foah, Ghana.

- He stands at five feet eight inches tall, or 1.72 metres.

- Atsu has ten siblings - six brothers and four sisters.

- Atsu is a left-footed winger, and can play on either flank.

- The Ghanaian spent his formative years in the professional game on the books of Portuguese side FC Porto, having joined them in 2009 at the age of 17 from Feyenoord Fetteh, otherwise known as the West African Football Academy.

- He made it on to the bench for Porto in the 2010/11 season, but didn't make a first team appearance.

- Atsu's first taste of senior football came during a loan spell at Rio Ave during the 2011/12 campaign, where he made 31 appearances, scoring six goals. He returned to Porto just prior to current Newcastle coach Ian Cathro's appointment as assistant manager at Rio Ave.

- In June 2012, he made his full international debut for Ghana against Lesotho, and helped himself to a debut goal.

- He returned to Porto in the summer of 2012, and made a total of 28 appearances for the club that season - eight of which came in the Champions League - scoring once in the league, which they won that year.

- In the summer of 2013, he signed for Chelsea for a reported fee of £2.5 million.

- Atsu was immediately loaned out to Eredivisie side Vitesse for the duration of the 2013/14 campaign, where he played 30 times, bagging five goals.

- He was part of the Ghana squad that finished fourth in the 2013 African Cup of Nations, and also played every game for his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

- The following season, he was loaned to Everton, making 13 appearances, including seven in the Toffees' Europa League campaign.

- In early 2015, Atsu won both the Player of the Tournament and the Goal of the Tournament awards as Ghana were beaten on penalties by the Ivory Coast in the final of the African Cup of Nations. His effort against Guinea earned him the Goal of the Tournament prize.

- He spent the first half of last season on loan at newly-promoted Bournemouth, but didn't make a league appearance for the Cherries as injuries disrupted his time on the south coast. In total, he played twice for Eddie Howe's side in the EFL Cup.

- But after joining Malaga on another loan in January, he scored four times in 24 La Liga matches, helping the Albicelestes to an eighth-placed finish.

- Despite being only 24, Atsu has amassed 44 caps for Ghana so far, scoring nine goals for his country.
