Dummett Is Buddies-Bound

Defender Paul Dummett has joined Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren on loan from Newcastle

Magpies youngster Paul Dummett has joined Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren on a six-month loan deal.

The Buddies have made a solid start to the current campaign, with one win and two draws from their opening four league games and a 5-1 victory over Ayr in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

And boss Danny Lennon has moved to bring in steely defender Dummett, who played for Newcastle's first-team against Olympiakos in pre-season and has captained the Reserves this term, until 6th January.

The 20-year-old left-footer, who can play at full-back or centre-half, was given the squad number 36 by Alan Pardew after signing a new one-year contract in the summer.

He spent time on loan with Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Gateshead last season, making ten appearances for the Heed, and his impressive displays saw him chosen as their player of the month for April.

Welsh under-21 international Dummett will go into the squad for St. Mirren's game at Aberdeen on Saturday.
