Paul Dummett has extended his loan spell with Gateshead until the end of the season after a successful first month at the International Stadium.
Wales under-21 defender Dummett has played four times for the Heed and has now agreed to stay for longer as Ian Bogie's men try to secure a spot in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.
The 20-year-old, who can play at left-back or centre-back, made his debut in last month's 2-0 win over Hayes and Yeading and also helped the Tynesiders to keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Cambridge.
And he told nufc.co.uk: "I've been happy there. I'm enjoying it and I'm happy to stay because there's a good bunch of lads who made me feel welcome when I first went.
"I'm enjoying playing regular football against men and testing myself at a higher level than Reserve football.
"We've got six big games left and I want to help them to win as many as possible to help Gateshead in the hunt for the play-offs, so I'm hoping this extended loan can benefit me and also Gateshead."
Dummett has yet to make his senior bow for Newcastle but was an unused substitute at Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup this term, as well as featuring in the pre-season trip to America.
