Phil Dowd will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League fixture at home against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off).
It is the third time the Staffordshire-based official has taken charge of a Magpies match this season, having been in the middle of the goalless draw against West Ham back in August, followed by a 3-2 defeat away at Everton the following month.
On that evening at Goodison Park, Dowd booked four players including United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
In total this season he has been appointed to 11 games across the Premier League, Capital One Cup and Championship, issuing 45 yellow cards and one red, and awarding one penalty.
Dowd, aged 50, began refereeing in local leagues in 1984, and having worked his way up through the ranks, joined the Football League's full list of referees in 1997.
He was promoted to the Premier League list in 2001, and took charge of his first top flight match in December that year as Fulham took on Everton.
On Saturday at St. James' Park, Dowd's assistants will be Scott Ledger and Dave Bryan, with Keith Hill the game's fourth official.
