Derby Date Decided

Written by Newcastle Utd

The date and venue has been confirmed for Newcastle's mouthwatering FA Youth Cup fourth round tie against Sunderland

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Newcastle will face Sunderland at St. James' Park in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup next month, it has been confirmed.

Kick-off will be 7pm on Monday, January 20th, 2014 and admission details will be announced on nufc.co.uk soon.

The Black Cats beat Ipswich on penalties in the third round following a 1-1 draw, and United knew that a win over Barnsley last week would set up the Tyne-Wear derby as the draw had already been made before the Magpies travelled to Oakwell.

Adam Armstrong scored both goals in a 2-1 win and told nufcTV: "I can't wait to play Sunderland.

"As soon as I saw the fixture I thought 'we've got to beat Barnsley.'

"Every Geordie lad wants to play Sunderland in the Youth Cup so it's going to be class.

"All the lads knew that we had Sunderland next round and thought 'look, we've got to do this.'

"To play against Sunderland, at St. James' - what else do you want?"

Also speaking to nufcTV, coach Dave Watson said: "I think it'll grab the imagination of everyone in Newcastle.

"Hopefully we'll get a good attendance for the game. The lads are really looking forward to it and I'm sure the Sunderland lads will be as well."
