Daniel's Delight At Montaigu Call

Written by Newcastle Utd

Teenage winger Daniel Barlaser has been called into the Turkey squad for the Montaigu Tournament in France

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Magpies youngster Daniel Barlaser could come up against Newcastle team-mates Adam Armstrong and Kyle Cameron on the international stage after being called up for Turkey's under-16 squad for this month's Montaigu Tournament.

The 16-year-old winger, who hails from Tyneside but qualifies for Turkey through his father, will head to France for the eight-team tournament between 26th March and 1st April.

England are also involved and include forward Armstrong and defender Cameron in their 18-man party. Both sides will play four games over the six days and the Young Lions are in the same group as Holland, Chile and Germany.

Turkey, meanwhile, were drawn with France, Portugal and Japan but the fourth and final match on 1st April will pit nations from each group against the team which finished in the corresponding position of the other group, which could see Turkey come up against England.

Former Swalwell Juniors player Barlaser will link up with his team-mates in Istanbul before heading to France next week.
