By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Journalist
On the day in which he put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at St. James' Park, Jonas Gutierrez received a call-up to the Argentina squad for their two World Cup qualifiers at the start of October.
The 28-year-old has been named as part of Alejandro Sabella's playing staff as they entertain Chile in Buenos Aires on Friday, 7th October, before an away match against Venezuela on Tuesday, 11th October.
Gutierrez has 20 international caps to his name, his last coming in September, but that was a return to the international scene for the winger, whose previous involvement with La Albiceleste came in the 2010 World Cup.
Saturday's hat-trick hero Demba Ba has also been given a call-up - for Senegal's African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ile Maurice in Port-Louis on Sunday, 9th October. The summer signing broke his Newcastle duck on Saturday with a treble to see off Blackburn, and could win his 11th cap for Senegal.
Young defender Tamas Kadar is part of the Hungary Under 21 party who will face Turkey (8th October) in a European Championship qualifier. The left-sided player has just returned from injury and has played a part for United's Reserves in recent weeks.
Teenage midfielder Haris Vuckic has been named in both the Slovenia Under 20 and Under 21 squads for their respective matches. The Under 21s will first take on Sweden for a place in European Championships on Thursday, 6th October, and Vuckic will then join up with the Under 20s who are scheduled to play a friendly away at Hungary on 11th October.
These recent call-ups are in addition to a number of other Magpies players who have been named for international duty over the last week. Please see below for a full list.
