Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has been called into the England senior squad for the first time.

The 24-year-old arrived at St. James' Park in the summer from local rivals Sunderland and has impressed in the famous black and white striped shirt during pre-season and the Magpies' opening two Barclays Premier League fixtures.

And Colback, who has previously represented the Three Lions at under-20 level, has also caught the eye of Roy Hodgson, with the national boss naming him in a 22-man party for England's upcoming fixtures.

They entertain Norway in a friendly on Wednesday night at Wembley, before travelling to Switzerland for a European Championships qualifier on Monday, 8th September.

Colback is one of four uncapped players named by Hodgson, joining Arsenal new boy Calum Chambers, Aston Villa's Fabian Delph and Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose.
