Newcastle United duo Yohan Cabaye and Shane Ferguson were both on international duty on Tuesday night, helping France and Northern Ireland pick up respective World Cup qualifying points.
In Group I, Cabaye started in the heart of Les Bleus' midfield against Belarus, as they ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in Paris.
All the goals came in the second half, with Etienne Capoue giving the hosts the lead, which was doubled on 68 minutes by Christophe Jallet.
Belarus halved the deficit four minutes later through Anton Putilo, but Franck Ribery put the result beyond any doubt with time running out.
Cabaye lasted 75 minutes for the French before being replaced by Blaise Matuidi.
Elsewhere, Ferguson's Northern Ireland were just three minutes away from recording a victory over Luxembourg in Belfast, but had to settle for a 1-1 Group F draw.
Ferguson, pictured below in action, played the opening 74 minutes for the Green and White Army, in which time Dean Shiels had struck them into a 14th-minute advantage.
But as the clock ticked away, Luxembourg number nine Daniel Da Mota netted a dramatic equaliser.
