Boss: 'A Week Of Hard Work'

Alan Pardew is relishing a full week on the training pitch, as he bids to get Newcastle United firing on all cylinders once again

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Alan Pardew is relishing a full week on the training pitch, as he bids to get Newcastle United firing on all cylinders once again.

Having played seven midweek fixtures already this term across the Europa League and Capital One Cup, the Magpies are currently experiencing a rare seven days without a match.

And the boss is determined to put that time to good use, admitting his side need to re-find the "rhythm" that made them such a threat in the Barclays Premier League during the 2011/12 campaign.

"We've got a week this week where we can get on the training ground, and work on the team," Pardew explained.

"We are missing that. A Thursday game takes two days off our training schedule, and it's showing.

"We need to get some rhythm back in the team."
