Bigi Bigs Up Lucky Mascot Campbell

Written by Newcastle Utd

Gael Bigirimana believes there is more to come from Adam Campbell, who has made a habit of helping Newcastle win games after coming from the bench

Adam Campbell has become Newcastle's lucky mascot in recent weeks and one of his team-mates is backing him to continue his meteoric rise.

Since making his United debut at Atromitos back in August, the 18-year-old has made three appearances from the bench - and helped his team win on each occasion

Gael Bigirimana is another young player who has made big strides this season and the pair played together for United's under-21 team on the opening day of the season, when Campbell scored a hat-trick in a 6-4 win over Tottenham.

Since then, both have made an impact on the first-team with Campbell's most recent cameo coming against Fulham on Sunday, when Papiss Cisse scored a stoppage-time winner.

In his previous two appearances, against Stoke and Anzhi Makhachkala, Cisse also netted last-gasp goals to give Newcastle vital victories and Bigirimana believes there is even more to come from the England under-19 international.

"Adam is a great kid and he deserves all the praise that he's been getting," said former Coventry midfielder Bigirimana, himself only 19 years old.

"He's been coming on and in the three games he's came on, we've won them all. He's got great potential.

"He's stupidly rapid and if he can keep that in his locker then defenders will never be his friend.

"I'm really happy for him and I hope he keeps working hard and keeps on going."
