Peter Beardsley will go back to Wallsend Boys Club with his Newcastle United under-21 team this month.

The former England star played his football there as a youngster, while the likes of Alan Shearer, Steve Bruce, Michael Carrick, Lee Clark, Robbie Elliott and Fraser Forster are also Wallsend old boys.

Running alongside their famous junior set-up, Wallsend Boys Club's senior side play in the Northern Alliance First Division and they will host United at their Bigges Main pitch on Tuesday, 14th October (kick-off 4.30pm).

That's a change to the originally advertised date of Wednesday, 15th October. Admission is £3 for adults and free for under-16s.

Adam Campbell and Jonathyn Quinn are among the current Newcastle players to have represented Wallsend Boys Club.

Beardsley's side will also play Consett at Belle View on Thursday, 9th October. Kick-off is 7pm and admission is £6 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for children.

United's under-21s played two friendlies last week, beating Carlisle 8-0 in a behind-closed-doors game at the Magpies' Training Centre and winning 8-1 at Heaton Stannington.

They are back in league action on Monday, 20th October when they entertain Brighton at Whitley Park (kick-off 1pm).
