Ayoze Perez has been called up to Spain's under-21 squad for the first time.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife-born forward joined Newcastle from CD Tenerife this summer having scored 16 goals in the Segunda last season.

And he's made an impressive start to his Magpies career, scoring against Sheffield Wednesday in pre-season and almost netting on his Barclays Premier League debut against Manchester City.

His performances have led to him being selected for Alberto Celades' party for European Under-21 Championships qualifying matches away to Hungary on Thursday, 4th September and at home to Austria on Tuesday, 9th September.

Several United players have received landmark international call-ups this week.

Jack Colback was named in the full England squad for the first time while Rolando Aarons has been chosen for the Three Lions at under-20 level.

Adam Armstrong and Freddie Woodman have earned debut selections for England's under-18 side while Paul Woolston made his England under-17s bow on Wednesday night.

Paul Dummett and Rob Elliot have also won first senior caps for Wales and Republic of Ireland respectively since the end of last term.
