Anita Making Good Progress

Written by Newcastle Utd

Midfielder Vurnon Anita has stepped up his comeback from a hamstring injury this week

Vurnon Anita is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring problem.

The Holland international midfielder limped out of December's 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion with what head coach Steve McClaren described as a "long-term" injury.

But, while the former Ajax man is yet to resume full training, he has stepped up his comeback in recent days.

He has been given the green light to start running outside, and has taken part in light ball work sessions with physio Michael Harding this week.

Anita had been a near ever-present for Newcastle before his injury, making 19 appearances in all competitions this term.
