By Anthony Marshall

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has been named in the England Under 18 squad for their development match against Italy.

The 17-year-old has been a regular in between the sticks for Newcastle's Academy this season, while also got a taste of Reserve team action earlier this month at West Ham.

And Alnwick's impressive performances have been rewarded with an international call-up for the away fixture against the Azzurini, in Carpi on Tuesday, April 12 (3pm kick-off).

England head coach Noel Blake has picked an 18-man group for the trip, with the team being used this season to bridge the gap between the Under 17 and Under 19 squads which engage in UEFA competitions.

England Under 18 squad in full: Jak Alnwick (Newcastle), Chuks Aneke (Arsenal), Patrick Bamford (Nottingham Forest), Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion), Conor Coady (Liverpool), Jake Fowler (Middlesbrough), Rob Hall (West Ham), Jamaal Lascelles (Nottingham Forest), Louis Laing (Sunderland), George Long (Sheffield United), George Moncur (West Ham), Curtis Nelson (Plymouth), Jordan Obita (Reading), Bruno Pilatos (Middlesbrough), Jack Robinson (Liverpool), Conor Thomas (Liverpool, on loan from Coventry), George Thorne (West Bromwich Albion)
