Alnwick Joins Bradford On Loan

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has joined Bradford City on loan for the remainder of the season

Jak Alnwick has joined Bradford City on loan for the rest of the season.

The bearded 21-year-old goalkeeper made a memorable Barclays Premier League debut for Newcastle in the 2-1 win over Chelsea in December and has played five more times in the league and twice in cup competitions.

Bradford are chasing promotion from League One and their regular goalkeeper for most of the campaign has been on-loan Sunderland shot-stopper Jordan Pickford. However, he has now returned to the Stadium of Light.

Alnwick - who has previously spent time on loan with Gateshead in 2011 - would be eligible for the play-offs should the Bantams finish in the top six.

However, he won't be able to play in the FA Cup (Bradford face Reading in a quarter-final replay next week), having started for Newcastle in their third round defeat to Leicester in his most recent appearance for United.

Born in Hexham, Alnwick is a former England under-18 international and the younger brother of Peterborough goalkeeper Ben.
