Newcastle United youngster Mehdi Abeid has joined Greek side Panathinaikos on a season-long loan

Newcastle United youngster Mehdi Abeid has joined Greek side Panathinaikos on a season-long loan.
The paperwork on the deal was completed on Wednesday morning, and the midfielder will remain in Athens until the end of the 2013/14 campaign, gaining crucial experience in the Super League.
Twenty-year-old Abeid joined United two years ago from Lens and has made five appearances across the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
He also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Scottish outfit St. Johnstone last term, turning out 13 times for the Saints.
