Aarons' England Beaten By Mexico

Written by Newcastle Utd

Rolando Aarons won his third cap for England under-20s on Wednesday night, but the Young Lions' Toulon Tournament hopes suffered a blow

England under-20s lost 2-1 to Mexico in their third Toulon Tournament group game on Wednesday evening.

Rolando Aarons appeared as a 61st-minute substitute for the Young Lions, who took a 15th-minute lead through Sunderland's Duncan Watmore in Aubagne.

But Marco Bueno equalised early in the second half before Aarons entered the fray as part of a triple substitution which also saw Lewis Baker of Chelsea and Callum Robinson of Aston Villa introduced.

Shortly after coming on, Aarons made a run from his own half which almost created a chance but it was Mexico who continued to look the most dangerous.

And they scored what proved to be the winner ten minutes from time through when Martin Zuniga's deflected shot beat Jordan Pickford.

England must now beat China on Friday and hope that other results go their way if they are to qualify from Group B.
