By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor
Andre Marriner will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League home game against Liverpool on Saturday (12.45pm kick-off).
It is second time the West Midlands-based official has taken charge of a Magpies' match this season, having been the man in the middle of United's opening day 4-0 defeat away at Manchester City.
In total this term he has overseen nine fixtures across the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and League Two, issuing 31 yellow cards and two reds.
The 42-year-old began refereeing in 1992 when he was asked to stand-in for an official who did not turn up at a local league match, and he progressed through the ranks to become a Football League referee 11 years later.
Marriner's first Premier League appointment came in November 2004 with a 4-0 victory for Charlton Athletic over Norwich City, and he took charge of the 2013 FA Cup final between Manchester City and Wigan at Wembley.
On Saturday, Marriner will be assisted by Scott Ledger and Marc Perry, with Lee Mason the game's fourth official.
