Newcastle United Under-18s 0 AFC Bournemouth Under-18s 5
Newcastle United Under-18s exited the FA Youth Cup at the fourth round stage following a 5-0 defeat against AFC Bournemouth at St. James' Park on Wednesday evening.
The Toon teenagers conceded four times in the first-half as Ashley Clarke opened the scoring within 56 seconds for the Cherries before Jonnuy Stuttle's fierce strike doubled the Cherries' lead shortly after the half-hour mark.
Jack Holman's free-kick extended the visitors' advantage further before Stuttle netted from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time, leaving the 2,588 home spectators stunned before the Bournemouth striker completed his hat-trick five minutes after the restart.
Newcastle's youngsters booked their spot in round four with a 7-2 win against Leyton Orient last month and faced a Bournemouth side plying their trade in the Professional Development League, one division below the young Magpies.
With a fifth round tie away at Tottenham Hotspur awaiting the winning team, Newcastle's youngsters got off to a difficult start as Clarke broke the deadlock within 56 seconds, racing onto Stuttle's pass in behind the United defence before calmly slotting the ball beyond Magpies goalkeeper Adam Harrison.
Teenage striker Sean Neave went close to equalising for the hosts as the England Under-17 international, who has netted 12 goals in all competitions for Newcastle at under-18 level so far this term, completed a bursting run beyond Jay Williams before directing his resulting effort wide of the right-hand post.
In the 31st minute, Stuttle netted Bournemouth's second goal of the evening, holding off the challenge of Luke Craggs before firing a powerful effort into the net from the edge of the box.
Newcastle were delivered a further blow ten minutes later through Holman's free-kick. After Clarke was fouled on the edge of the penalty area by Magpies midfielder Scott Bailey, the Cherries full-back slammed a vicious free-kick into the net.
Newcastle's youngsters, who had six of their last seven competitive home matches prior to their FA Youth Cup clash against the Cherries, conceded a fourth goal in the 45th minute through Stuttle's penalty. As Remy Rees-Dottin raced onto Clarke's through pass, the former was brought down inside the box by Harrison, leaving Stuttle to dispatch the resulting spot-kick, sending Harrison the wrong way.
Bournemouth extended their advantage five minutes after the restart as Stuttle netted his third of the night, collecting Clarke's pass before calmly tucking the ball into the far right-hand corner.
The hosts targeted a mere consolation, with the lively Trevan Sanusi denied by Cherries goalkeeper Mack Allan before Leo Shahar's low drive flew narrowly wide of the target on an otherwise disappointing night for Graeme Carrick's side.
