Newcastle United Under-18s fell to a 2-1 away defeat against their Blackburn Rovers counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday afternoon.

The Toon teenagers conceded twice within the space of six first-half minutes, with Joe Boggan netting inside 22 minutes at the Blackburn Rovers Training Centre before Jackson Shorrocks doubled the hosts' lead before the half-hour mark.

Sixteen-year-old forward Joe Brayson was introduced from the substitutes' bench before the restart, and halved the deficit after the hour mark for the young Magpies, the youngster's sixth league goal of the 2023/24 campaign at under-18 level, but Graeme Carrick's side were unable to salvage a point in Lancashire.

Newcastle's youngsters face a home clash against Liverpool in their upcoming Under-18 Premier League North fixture on Tuesday, 16th April at Whitley Park (kick-off 7pm BST).
