Newcastle United Under-18s suffered a 2-0 home defeat against their Middlesbrough counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.
After a goalless first-half at the Magpies’ Little Benton Academy, the Toon teenagers fell behind shortly before the hour mark following Frankie Coulson’s opener for the visitors.
Charlie Lennon doubled Middlesbrough’s advantage in the 73rd minute of the league encounter, with Newcastle’s youngsters unable to salvage a comeback against their local rivals.
