Newcastle United Under-18s' penultimate Under-18 Premier League North fixture of the 2022/23 campaign ended in defeat following a 3-1 away loss at Liverpool on Saturday.
The Toon Teenagers conceded twice in the opening six minutes at Kirkby as James McConnell’s header sent the Reds ahead inside the first 120 seconds before Louie Koumas doubled the hosts’ lead four minutes later.
Newcastle’s youngsters conceded a third eight minutes after the restart following Elijah Gift's strike before Graeme Carrick’s side pulled a goal back in the latter stages of the league clash, courtesy of Lucas Pitt’s unfortunate goal, but proved to be a mere consolation on Merseyside.
The young Magpies conclude their Under-18 Premier League North campaign on Saturday, 6th May when they face an away trip to Nottingham Forest (kick-off 1.30pm BST).
