Newcastle United Under-18s suffered a heavy defeat at Manchester United on Saturday after a five-goal second-half salvo at Carrington.
The Magpies fell behind after quarter of an hour when Omari Forson opened the scoring for the Red Devils, but it took the hosts until three minutes after the break to extend their lead through Sam Mather.
Forson’s second of the game and a Maximilian Oyedele strike made it 4-0 with 25 minutes remaining, and further efforts from Joe Hugill and Ethan Ennis rounded off a miserable day for United.
Peter Ramage’s side remain rooted to the bottom of the Under-18 Premier League’s northern section, with two difficult fixtures – against Manchester City and Liverpool – still to play as they round off the 2021/22 campaign.
