Newcastle United's youngsters were somewhat harshly beaten in their first game of the Under-18 Premier League Cup on Friday afternoon.
Michael Ndiweni scored his sixth goal of the season but the Foxes were already 2-0 up thanks to a deflected strike from Abdullah Javid and a Brandon Cover effort.
That quickfire double came after an even first half, but Ndiweni's finish from 12 yards set up a strong finish from the visitors, with home goalkeeper Kelechi Chibueze making good saves to deny Lewis Miley and Ndiweni.
But as United pushed forward for an equaliser, they were caught on the break in the closing seconds and Jack Butterfill made sure of the win for Leicester.
United are at home to Nottingham Forest in the same competition on Saturday, 16th October (kick-off 2pm BST) before entertaining Southampton in their third group game on Saturday, 27th November (kick-off 11am GMT).
