Newcastle United Under-18s suffered a heavy defeat at Leeds United on Saturday, losing 5-1 at Thorp Arch.
The young Magpies fell behind early on when Keenan Coleman opened the scoring, but Jamie Miley levelled for United shortly before the midway point in the first half.
But goals from Ben Andreucci and Mitch Picksley gave Leeds a 3-1 half time advantage, and further efforts after the restart from Andreucci and Coleman completed the scoring for the hosts, moving them up to sixth in the Under-18 Premier League table – and pushing Newcastle down to 11th.
United’s next outing sees them take on Sunderland at home in the Tyne-Wear derby on Saturday, 20th November (11am kick-off), where a win for the young Magpies would see them leapfrog their local rivals in the table.
