The Magpies lost 2-0 at West Brom

Dave Watson's side had beaten Sunderland 3-0 in their first play-off game and went in level at the break at the Baggies' training ground in Walsall.

But in the 65th minute, Callum Morton put the home side ahead, popping up at the far post to finish after Alex Bradley had crossed.

And late on, as United pushed for an equaliser, Nick Clayton-Phillips scored a second from just outside the box.

Newcastle's next game is away to Southampton on Saturday, 1st April (kick-off 11am).

Newcastle United Under-18s: Nathan Harker, Craig Spooner, Ben Kitchen, Daniel Lowther (Thomas Allan 57), Yannick Aziakonou, Owen Gallacher, Isaac Gamblin, Mo Sangare (Jack Robson 30), Elias Sorensen, Kelland Watts, Mackenzie Heaney
