Magpies youngsters lose final game of season

United fell behind inside the opening 60 seconds at Little Benton on Saturday, when Liam Edwards fired beyond debutant goalkeeper Will Brown.

And in the 11th minute, the visitors doubled their lead through Kieren Evans.

However, Danish striker Elias Sorensen - who has ended the season strongly - pulled one back as he headed home from Craig Spooner's cross.

Thomas Allan then hit a post as the Magpies pushed for an equaliser.

But Liam Cullen made the game safe for the Swans in the second half and ensured that the Welsh club finished second in the Under-18 Premier League group three table, one place ahead of Newcastle.

Newcastle United Under-18s: Will Brown, Craig Spooner, Isaac Gamblin (Kieren Aplin 46), Daniel Lowther, Ben Kitchen, Gideon Adu-Peprah, Jack Robson (Callum Smith 58), Mace Goodridge, Elias Sorenesen (Lewis McNall 58), Thomas Allan, Owen Gallacher
