Newcastle United Women were crowned FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division champions after an emphatic 10-0 win against Huddersfield Town Women.

United were rampant in front of a record attendance of 7,382 at Kingston Park and sealed the title and promotion in impressive style.

A first-half brace from Emma Kelly either side of Beth Lumsden and Katie Barker strikes saw the Lasses take control of their final home game.

Becky Langley's side added a further six goals in the second half through Barker, Lumsden, Jasmine McQuade, Charlotte Potts, Kacie Elson and Georgia Gibson in what was an afternoon to savour.

It took just 11.6 seconds for Newcastle United to put themselves ahead and send the expectant crowd wild when Kelly headed home.

Newcastle's number eight played the ball forward from kick-off and continued her run into the box before producing a spectacular diving header into the bottom corner.

United continued to dominate the game and before the 20-minute mark their pressure was rewarded when Lumsden doubled the lead.

Lumsden was a thorn in the side of Huddersfield's defence all afternoon and after 18 minutes she dealt a killer blow, cutting in from the left and finding the bottom corner with a smart finish.

Kelly made it three with a long-range effort and on the stroke of half time it took a brilliant piece of last-ditch defending from Ria Montgomery to block Kelly's effort on the line, just seconds after Barker had hit the post.

Newcastle weren't to be denied for much longer, though, and with just seconds left to play in the first half Amber-Keegan Stobbs delivered an inch-perfect cross for Barker to thump home a back-post header.

The Lasses came out in the second half with the same intensity, pushing the Terriers back, and made it five after 51 minutes. A cross into the box found Kelly who cut the ball back to Barker and United's number nine curled her effort into the top corner.

Moments later Liv Watt broke forward from defence and dribbled past a handful of defenders before eventually laying off to Lumsden, who rifled home her second of the afternoon and United's sixth from a tight angle.

Halfway through the second half United netted two quickfire goals through substitute McQuade, who fired home from range before Potts finished off a goalmouth scramble.

Elson was keen to make her mark on the game after being brought on as a substitute, and her half-volley floated past Terriers shot-stopper Faye Hazelton before Gibson added a tenth in added time from close range.
