West Allotment Celtic Ladies 0 Newcastle United Women 5

Bluefin Sport Insurance Women's Cup holders Newcastle United Women are through to this season's final after a comfortable victory over West Allotment Celtic Ladies on Sunday.

Becky Ferguson scored twice while Lauren Robson, Olivia Watt and Keira Skelton were also on target for Becky Langley's side, who will face Wallsend BC Women in a repeat of the 2020/21 final.

The Lady Magpies boss gave opportunities to some of her younger players, including teenagers Ferguson, Skelton, Jess Spark, Georgina Spraggon, Lois Greenslade and Jess Spark, but also included a handful of more experienced players like captain Brooke Cochrane and New Zealander Rosie Missen.

And United were ahead inside six minutes, as Ferguson burst down the right and cut the ball back for Lauren Robson to net from close range.

Robson hit the crossbar in the 28th minute but seconds later, Newcastle doubled their advantage through a powerful effort from England under-17 international Ferguson.

She then got her second of the afternoon in the 54th minute with a fine finish and just after the hour mark, substitute Olivia Watt headed home from a Robson corner to make it four.

And the scoring was completed in the 68th minute when Skelton's long-range strike flew into the net to keep the Lady Magpies on course for a league and cup double.

Newcastle United Women: Grace Donnelly, Brooke Cochrane (c), Jane Harland (Ellen Packham 55), Sharna Wilkinson (Olivia Watt 56), Lauren Robson, Rosie Missen, Becky Ferguson, Georgina Spraggon (Katie Barker 46), Keira Skelton, Jess Spark, Lois Greenslade (Kacie Elson 46)
