Newcastle United Women 11 Blackburn Community Sports Club Ladies 0

After beating Blyth Town Ladies 8-0 last weekend, Newcastle United Women recorded another big win on Sunday as their Vitality Women's FA Cup campaign began against Blackburn Community Sports Club Ladies.

Jess Foster and Katie Barker each grabbed a hat-trick, while Beth Gardener, Kacie Elson, Megan McKenzie, Imogen Longcake and Anna Soulsby were also on target.

Becky Langley's side marched into the third qualifying round in hugely impressive fashion - despite taking 31 minutes to break the deadlock.

But once Foster opened the scoring, finishing at the second attempt after Gardener's fine pass, the floodgates opened and Elson made it 2-0 in the 40th minute.

Two minutes later, Gardener got her name on the scoresheet before Barker got her first of the afternoon on the stroke of half time.

In the second half, the Lady Magpies were even more clinical with Barker slotting home from six yards in the 49th minute after great work from Elson, then completing her hat-trick just before the hour-mark.

McKenzie put United in seventh heaven in the 68th minute, then substitute Soulsby got the eighth.

Longcake's exciting run and finish in the 83rd minute made it 9-0, before the winger set up the tenth for Foster two minutes from the end.

And there was still time for Foster to get her third and round off the scoring seconds later with Newcastle United Women's 19th goal in two matches - while Laura Wareham earned her third successive clean sheet with a couple of big saves to make it an excellent afternoon all round for Langley and her team.
