Newcastle United have the opportunity to climb off the bottom of the Premier League table on goal difference if they can beat 19th-place Norwich City at St. James' Park on Tuesday night - but will be without captain Jamaal Lascelles and the influential Matt Ritchie against the Canaries.
Both players are suspended after picking up five bookings for the campaign, but Dwight Gayle is back in contention against the side he scored twice against in a pre-season friendly at Gallowgate on the eve of the season.
Norwich could include former Magpies Tim Krul and Grant Hanley and have made a strong start to life under new boss Dean Smith, but Newcastle have also shown signs of improvement under Eddie Howe, who will be in the home dugout for the first time at St. James'.
Ryan Fraser played under Howe at AFC Bournemouth and started at Arsenal on Saturday, and the Scotland international gave NUFC TV an insight into the mood in the United camp ahead of the crucial midweek match.
