Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.

Newcastle stage a comeback to avoid losing five matches on the bounce. The Magpies looked beaten at 2-0 down after goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Field had put West Brom in control at The Hawthorns. However, Ciaran Clark got a goal back almost immediately before Matt Ritchie's free-kick was deflected into his own net by Jonny Evans. Both managers will feel that their teams should have got more from the game, but it ends a point apiece.

Newcastle probe in the final minutes, but are unable to find a way through to goal before the referee ends the contest.

BLOCK! Krychowiak goes for the strike, but his effort clatters off the wall. A waste from the midfielder.

Robson-Kanu wins a free-kick for the home side 30 yards from goal. Krychowiak will line up the strike from distance.

There will be four minutes of added time.

All hands on deck for the Baggies at the back, but they manage to clear the danger from Ritchie's delivery.

McClean has been a disaster since arriving on the pitch as he loses possession. It results in another corner for Newcastle.

Shelvey opens up the West Brom defence with an incisive throughball for Yedlin, but the full-back is a fraction offside as the ball is played.

West Brom clear the danger, but the visitors remain on top in the contest.

Newcastle are all over the home side now and Ritchie's cross is deflected over the bar by Hegazi. Another set-piece looms for the visitors.

Substitution Sam Field Grzegorz Krychowiak

Own goal Jonny Evans

McClean trips Yedlin on the edge of the box on the right flank. Ritchie will send the delivery towards the near post.

Substitution Kieran Gibbs James McClean

SAVE! Space opens up for Perez in the final third and he goes for the strike from 25 yards, only to blast his effort straight at Foster.

Robson-Kanu gets a knock and play is stopped as he receives treatment.

The home side are trying to take the pace out of the game. It's working to a degree, but the Magpies have looked dangerous on the break.

Lejeune has to make a solid clearing header at the back post as Gibbs attempts to latch on to Phillips' cross at the back post. The Baggies have always had that threat down the right flank.

Substitution José Luis Sanmartín Mato Aleksandar Mitrović

OFFSIDE! Aaron sends a low ball across the face of goal down the left. Perez tries to meet it on the slide, but misses contact. Ritchie latches on the ball and fires at goal, only to be denied by Foster on the line. A great save from the keeper, although the offside flag was up anyway against Perez.

Yacob loses possession on the edge of the box as Perez steals the ball. However, the Spaniard is unable to carve out an opening down the left flank.

Substitution Gareth Barry Claudio Ariel Yacob

Newcastle build well down the right and Ritchie slides the ball forward for Yedlin. However, the full-back scuffs his cross out for a goal-kick.

Substitution Jacob Murphy Rolando Aarons

SAVE! Robson-Kanu collects on the edge of the box and goes for the strike, but his right-footed effort is tame and straight at Darlow.

Megson will be furious with his team. They were in control of the contest, but have breathed life into the Magpies, who are being roared on by the travelling fans.

Evans takes a chance at the back, but he uses skill to get himself out of trouble, escaping the pressure of Joselu and Perez.

SAVE! Foster makes a fine save to keep his side ahead in the contest. Murphy raids down the left and lifts a cross into the box. Hegazi clears the ball, but Merino latches on to it on the edge of the box. The Spaniard strikes first time on his left foot with power. His effort looks to be heading towards the bottom corner, but Foster is down quickly to make the save and gather the rebound.

Darlow takes a chance at the back as he controls the ball from Mbemba. Robson-Kanu tries to apply pressure, but the keeper does well to clear his lines.

Newcastle win a free-kick for a foul on Merino by Field. The Spaniard tries to lift a cross to the back post, but overhits the ball for Lejeune and the Frenchman can only watch it trickle out for a goal-kick.

CHANCE! For the second time in the game Clark should do better. Ritchie's cross from a corner finds him near the penalty spot, but he doesn't move his head to the ball and it simply hits him and travels wide.

We're back underway at The Hawthorns.

The players are back out for the second half. So we should be underway shortly.

West Brom strike just before the interval as Hal Robson-Kanu converts and Rafael Benitez walks back to the tunnel with fury in each stride. There was little between the two teams in the opening 45 minutes. Both had half-chances, but were not overly threatening in the final third until the Baggies opened up Newcastle right at the death. Gary Megson will be pleased as his team-talk will be easier, but his opposite number was visibly fuming. A big second half awaits the Magpies.

The referee ends the first half.

Goal Hal Robson-Kanu

There will be one minute of added time.

Joselu takes a neat touch to create room for Murphy in the middle of the park, but the winger loses possession immediately. Poor from the former Norwich City man.

WIDE! Rondon turns in the left inside channel and feeds the ball towards the near post. Robson-Kanu makes the run to fire at goal, but Merino and Lejeune do enough between them to put the striker off his effort, placing the ball just wide of the target.

Barry lifts a cross to the back post and it's uncomfortable for Darlow as he has to come over Clark to gather. He drops the ball, but fortunately for the keeper Mbemba is there to sweep it away from danger.

Field is down on the pitch and requires treatment before we continue this evening.

SAVE! Field's first delivery hits the legs of the first defender, but he battles back to regain possession. He picks out Rondon on the left lank, who in turn finds Hegazi. The defender lifts the ball into the middle and Robson-Kanu rises to head at goal. However, his effort deflects off Clark and into the hands of Darlow.

Mbemba brings down Robson-Kanu next to the corner flag on the right. Field stands over the ball, waiting to deliver the ball.

Newcastle probe on the edge of the box and Ritchie goes for the strike, but his deflected effort is comfortably saved by Foster.

Clark rises to clear the resulting corner. Solid work from the defender in that passage of play.

Phillips gets the better of Mbemba down the right flank and he fires a cross into the box, but Clark rises to head behind at the near post. The Baggies still have a corner...

WIDE! Mbemba curls a dangerous ball into the box from the left flank and Joselu rises to head at goal, but the ball drifts wide of the post.

Murphy has arguably been the best player on the pitch thus far. He makes a good run into the channel, but sees his shot blocked by Nyom. The former Norwich man collects the rebound and crosses into the box, only for Evans to head clear.

Barry looks for the quick ball over the top for the run of Rondon, but the ball heads straight out of play for a throw-in.

West Brom were beginning to take a hold of the contest, but a few loose passes has halted their momentum. It's a scrappy contest.

WIDE! Ritchie goes for the drive from 30 yards, and although he generates power on his effort, he fires wide of the post.

Field catches Murphy late and Newcastle are awarded a free-kick in the West Brom half. There was not much in that challenge.

The Baggies are beginning to win the territorial battle with the visitors. Megson's men are slowly edging the Magpies back towards the edge of their own box.

OFF THE BAR! Rondon turns his man and goes for an ambitious strike 30 yards from goal. He connects well with his effort and it sails over Darlow, only to clip the top of the bar and head over. So close to the opener.

West Brom build down the right and Phillips sends a dangerous ball into the box, but Darlow does well to gather low in his penalty area.

Ritchie delivers the ball into the box from the right. Hegazi goes to clear ahead of Foster and takes the ball away from his keeper. Fortunately for the defender Nyom is there to guide the ball away from Joselu on the line.

Clark makes a good challenge to stop the run of Robson-Kanu down the right. Both defences are on top at the moment.

Nyom makes another error at the back as his poor clearance falls to Murphy. The winger slides the ball into Perez's feet, but Nyom gets back to win the challenge.

CHANCE! Clark rises to meet Ritchie's delivery and has a free header at goal, only to head his effort tamely at Foster. A waste from the visitors.

Perez gets the better of Nyom in the corner and he draws the foul from the defender. Newcastle have a free-kick five yards in front of the corner flag.

BLOCK! Rondon strikes the ball as he attempts to curl the ball over the wall, but the line holds it ground and makes the block. Newcastle clear the danger and attempt to break through Murphy.

Robson-Kanu gets tripped by Ritchie in the final third. Now the Baggies will try their luck from distance.

BLOCK! Lejeune strikes the ball at goal, but he can only blast his effort straight into the wall. He hooks the ball back into the box, but the home side clear their lines.

Nyom brings down Murphy 30 yards from goal and Newcastle win a free-kick in a threatening position.

It has been a tepid start to the contest as both sides seem to be probing for weaknesses without a great deal of success.

Ritchie's drive from the edge of the box is deflected wide of the post by Hegazi. Newcastle win the corner, but the home side clear the danger with relative ease.

Both sides have seen plenty of the ball in the early stages, but it has not yielded a threat at goal.

Robson-Kanu gives Darlow an early test from distance, but the keeper claims his rising cross into the box.

West Brom win an early free-kick at the half-way line as Merino bundles over Rondon.

We're underway at The Hawthorns.

The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.

STAT ATTACK! Newcastle have secured just one win and six points in their last 17 Premier League away games (W1 D3 L13).

STAT ATTACK! West Bromwich Albion have won only one game and six points (W1 D3 L6) in their last 10 Premier League games at The Hawthorns.

STAT ATTACK! West Brom have won two of their last three home league games against Newcastle.

FLASHBACK! West Brom won this contest 1-0 the last time the two sides met at The Hawthorns in the Premier League as Darren Fletcher scored the only goal of the game.

Newcastle have made four changes to their line-up from their defeat to Watford. Karl Darlow replaces Rob Elliot between the sticks, while Chancel Mbemba comes into the side at left-back. Mikel Merino and Ayoze Perez also start as Jonjo Shelvey, Dwight Gayle and Javier Manquillo drop to the bench. Benitez keeps faith with Joselu to lead the line ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Megson has made one change to his side that drew with Tottenham at the weekend for this evening's contest. Hal Robson-Kanu comes into the starting line-up to replace Jay Rodriguez, who drops to the bench.

Newcastle subs: Elliot, Shelvey, Gayle, Diame, Aarons, Manquillo, Mitrovic.

NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1): Darlow; Yedlin, Lejeune, Clark, Mbemba; Hayden, Merino; Murphy, Perez, Ritchie; Joselu.

West Brom subs: Yacob, Myhill, McClean, Burke, Rodriguez, Krychowiak, McAuley.

WEST BROM (4-4-2): Foster; Nyom, Hegazi, Evans, Gibbs; Phillips, Livermore, Barry, Field; Rondon, Robson-Kanu.

The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.

Newcastle are in danger of sliding into the lower depths of the Premier League, having lost their last four matches. Rafael Benitez's men were hammered at the weekend by Watford at St James' Park, losing 3-0 to the Hornets, although it could have been a lot worse. The Spaniard needs a response from his team with tough fixtures on the horizon over the festive period.

Alan Pardew will be named West Brom manager in the near future, but Gary Megson remains in charge of the Baggies this evening. The caretaker boss had a solid first game in charge as he guided his side to a point against Tottenham at Wembley at the weekend. Megson will be aiming to sign off on a high note before he hands the reins to Pardew by beating the struggling Magpies.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between West Brom and Newcastle at The Hawthorns.
